Body Contouring Q & A
What is a Laser Treatment?
Laser treatments (sometimes also called laser surgery), have supplanted many more invasive procedures once used by plastic surgeons and dermatologists. A laser is a device that produces a high-energy, focused beam of intense light and heat. These light beams can interact with body tissues and cells and can be delivered in very precise doses to areas of the skin and body. Lasers are currently used to remove wrinkles, birthmarks, and tattoos to resurface aging skin, to prepare areas where hair transplants will be placed, and to destroy fat cells and reduce cellulite.
What is SmartLipo Triplex Laser?
SmartLipo Triplex is a type of laser treatment used for liposuction, or the removal of body fat cells. It's used in areas like the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms, and neck to permanently eliminate unwanted body fat. It is not a substitute for weight loss and exercise but can be helpful in those areas where fat remains after weight loss. SmartLipo Triplex also tightens the skin.
What is Cellulaze?
Collagen is one of the primary supporting structures of the skin. Cellulite is the dimpled skin that appears when collagen begins to break down, which can occur with aging or weight gain. Cellulaze is a laser treatment for cellulite. It liquefies fat, releases the fibrous bundles that pull or dimple the skin, and stimulates new collagen production.
What is PrecisionTx?
PrecisionTx is a laser treatment used to contour small areas of the body. It can be used to tighten areas like the jaw line for an effect similar to that of a facelift. PrecisionTx is also used to treat conditions like excessive underarm sweating, which is known as hyperhidrosis. The laser beams destroy sweat glands, which reduces the excessive perspiration permanently.
What Are the Procedures Like?
All of the above laser procedures involve the insertion of a small catheter into the treatment area under the skin. Local anesthetics are used to reduce discomfort and eye protection is provided to the patient. The procedures are performed in the office. Downtime is short and discomfort after the procedure is minimal, although some patients develop minor swelling and bruising.
